Once your principal investigator / experiment contacter has told us that you are coming, the user office will send you an email. This email will ask you to complete the following tasks online as soon as possible.
1.Please be sure to update your personal details at /user.csns.ihep.ac.cn/detail.
2.Please go to the safety training system /user.csns.ihep.ac.cn/examing, then take (and pass) the CSNS safety test(if you have not done this within the past two years).
äºãPrincipal Investigator or Experiment Contacter
Please schedule your experiment, request the visit, complete the experiment risk assessment (ERA), and apply for access to CSNS computing resources.
Once your application has been scheduled, you will receive an email from the CSNS User Office, confirm the date of the experiment and the appropriate sample environment.
1.âPlease check if the sample environment is correctly assigned. If there is any problem, please inform your CSNS local contact as soon as possible. If you need special equipment that requires engineering, assembly or testing, be sure to provide details as soon as possible, but at least six weeks before the experiment is due to start.
2.We need to know the people who participated in the experiment in advance in order to arrange for them to enter the CSNS experiment hall. Please complete the access notification/registration online at /user.csns.ihep.ac.cn/visit, to ensure that all participants in the experiment are included. Please submit an application for accommodation for the experimenter.
3.Please complete the experimental risk assessment (or let your team members complete it) so that we can prepare the necessary safety arrangements. An experimental risk assessment (ERA) is required for all experiments.
*If you want other member of the team to complete the risk assessment, please email the user office with the experiment number (EX) number and the member's email address.
*If you have any questions about filling out the sample environment form, please contact your CSNS local contact or our sample environment team on firstname.lastname@example.org.
4.If your team members need to access CSNS computing resources to analyze the data during the experiment, ask the member to apply for a system account ID.
5.Please ensure that everyone in the experimental team who is going to carry out experiment in CSNS completes the above online filling task at least one week before the arrival.

There are shuttles(Route 6) from Songshan Lake Air-terminal to CSNS (the red line).
ä¸ãAccess CSNS data
All data generated by CSNS is catalogued into the CSNS data catalogue.
You can log in to the system using your unified authentication system account (email address).
All experimental data is private to the Principal Investigator and the experiment team for 3 years. After this time the data become publicly available. Any calibration data is made public immediately.
All raw data obtained as a result of âcommercial-in-confidenceâ access to CSNS will be owned exclusively by the commercial user.
Relevant CSNS staff (such as instrument scientists, computing group members) may access to any facility-related data. CSNS promises that they will preserve the confidentiality of such data.
The Principle Investigator must confirm that the experiment number (EX number) is correctly entered into the data for each raw data set, so that each data set is correctly associated with the PI. Otherwise, the experimental team will not be able to access the data via the online catalog, and other users may inadvertently gain access to the data.
For more information about the CSNS data system, or if you have any questions, please contact email@example.com
äºãConnect to WiFi
Users who arrive at CSNS can connect to the "IHEP" wireless network. The network will automatically enter an application system. Please follow the system instructions. (Access to the network needs to know the hardware port of the user's mobile device, so it must be done in CSNS.) For any questions, please contact your CSNS local contact, some of them can authorize your connection
The "IHEP" wireless network can be accessed from most of experimental areas and office buildings.
Eduroam connected to WiFi:
During the experiment, you can use your Eduroam account to connect to our guest WiFi network using 'Eduroam'. Eduroam is set up by your institution, please contact your local IT administrator before you visit.
ä¸ãLaboratory and support
1.Contact the user office
The CSNS User Office is responsible for assisting all users, so if you have any questions, please contact us for assistance.
We will do our best to help you solve the problem.
The user's office is located at Room 214, A2 office building..
If you have any questions outside of normal office hours, you can contact them by email.
CSNS offers a wide range of state-of-the-art sample environment equipment, support laboratories and technical experts to support the scientific research of CSNS users.
We offer general laboratory equipments, including low and high temperature, pressure, gas, magnets, motion and temperature control, and electronics.
CSNS in-house scientists can support userâs research. If you have any questions about the sample environment, please contact rant.
Accommodation can be submitted online
Accommodation can be booked through the user's office using the accommodation system. You will need your experiment EX number or your purpose of visit.
Experimental users can transfer money to the CSNS-Pass card through the administrative office. It can be used at the CSNS restaurant.
Restaurant opening hours
When you visit, you can get a pass-card from the user office.
It is important that you wear the pass card visibly at all times . This is the pass that the main control room then uses to give you access the experimental halls for your experiment.
The card can also be used as payment in the restaurant. We top up the card with "money". You can then present your pass at the restaurant to pay for your meal.
åãUser Safety Information
All users must read the relevant safety training documents before arriving at the CSNS neutron scattering hall and laboratories.
In order to be approved to work in experiment hall and/or a laboratory at CSNS, the user must pass a security test based on this information.
äºãCSNS Safety Training System (radiation safety protection system)
The facility safety test system is directly connected to the user's office system, so that CSNS staff can immediately see when you pass the test, in order to grant you to enter the lab hall.
å ãInformation on what to do on arrival at the CSNS.
Please note that you cannot enter the CSNS experiment hall unless you have passed the radiation safety test. Please read the information before to confirm that you are ready before you arrive.
Working hours arrive at CSNS
Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00
1.Check in at the user's office.
2.Go to the Radiation Safety Protection Officeand obtain a dosimeter after radiation safety training.
3.Go to the user office to get the CSNS-Pass Card.
The experimental report must be submitted within three months after the completion of the experiment.
Reports are intended as interim summaries of the measurements made during an CSNS experiment and as such do not necessarily need to contain the final conclusions or data analysis. They should however record the outcome of the experiment.
The form you submit will not be made public, but will serve as a supporting material for evaluating your future beamtime application.
äºãSubmitting your Report
The completed experimental report should be submitted in PDF format via the on-line system. If you are unable to use the website, you can send the full report to our email address firstname.lastname@example.org
Please make sure the file name is easy to identify - please include the experiment EX number in the file name. We will respond the email within 2 business days, please be patient, or ask again before sending the report once again.
In the experimental report, you can suggest aspects of the improvement or development of CSNS. Each completed experimental team is required to fill out the User Satisfaction Survey Form, which contains areas for improvement and development of the facility. . The CSNS User Committeeâ receive comments that users make on CSNS performance from both Experimental Reports and User Satisfaction Forms
ä¸ãPublishing your research
When publishing results from your experiments at CSNS, it is expected that you will include your CSNS local contacter as a co-author.
Without the efforts of CSNS scientists in the design, commissioning, construction, maintenance and development of CSNS instruments, many experiments cannot be successful.
If your research team is largely self-sufficient and you do not intend to include your local contacter as a co-author on publications, you should discuss this during the experiment.
Please send information on your publications to email@example.com.
åãUser Satisfaction Survey
We welcome your comments and suggestions on the services provided by CSNS.
Please complete the online user satisfaction survey at the end of your experiment to let us know what happened to you.
We use your feedback to improve CSNS's services, and report the CSNS user experience to our regulatory agencies. Comments received through this form will be provided anonymously to the CSNS User Council or other governing body, but only in anonymized form, and statistics based on aggregated and anonymized data may be made available to other research councils or funders.
